The Premium 2.0 opens the 2026 generation of ÜLKA tabletop collectors. Its airflow reaches 4.4 m/s and its grille has been entirely redrawn to intercept particles as they leave the file.

Housing brought down to 10.6 cm, draw held at 48 W, HEPA filtration and five years of cover handled by ÜLKA France.

ÜLKA Premium 2.0: a New Generation of the Collector That Made the Brand's Name

Since its launch, the Premium has been the best-selling tabletop unit in the ÜLKA nail dust collectors catalogue. Reworking it was therefore a delicate exercise: improve what needed improving without undoing what already worked. The Premium 2.0 is the result of that revision, and it comes down to one idea: reach the dust faster.

Airflow rises from 3 to 4.4 metres per second. The grille has been redrawn. The housing has lost height. And all of it while drawing four watts less than before.

What has changed since the first generation

Rather than a speech, a measurement. Point by point, here is the gap between the two:

Criterion Premium Premium 2.0 Difference
Airflow 3 m/s 4.4 m/s + 47 %
Power drawn 52 W 48 W - 4 W
Housing height 11 cm 10.6 cm - 0.4 cm
Footprint 26.5 × 24.5 cm 26.7 × 26.7 cm square format
Mass 2.15 kg 2 kg - 150 g
Noise level 55 dB 69 dB more audible
Warranty 5 years 5 years unchanged

One line of that table goes the wrong way, and we would rather write it here than let you discover it on delivery: the 2.0 makes itself heard more. We come back to that below, in detail.

Human Engineering: start from the chair, not the spec sheet

ÜLKA uses the name Human Engineering for a design method that is simple to state: watch how a nail technician actually works first, draw afterwards. Not the other way round.

Three observations shaped this model. Dust is born on a band two or three centimetres wide, at the edge of the nail, not across the whole hand. The client moves her hand constantly; she never holds it still in the middle of a grille. And a nail station worktop is already saturated long before you add a device to it.

From those come the geometry of the new grille, the speed of the airflow and the compact square format. Each of those decisions answers one of the three constraints.

A grille that works like a funnel

On the previous generation, the grille simply let air through. On the 2.0 it steers it. Its pattern channels suction toward the band where filings form, across a widened capture area.

The benefit is measured in tolerance rather than raw power. You no longer have to pull your client's hand back to the centre of the unit every couple of minutes for suction to stay effective: the useful zone now covers the natural range of the gesture.

Ten point six centimetres: a figure you feel in the wrist

The height of a tabletop collector is rarely advertised. It should be. Every extra centimetre forces the client to lift her wrist a little higher, and that posture does not survive ninety minutes intact.

Brought down to 10.6 cm, the Premium 2.0 housing leaves the hand in an almost natural position. It moves less, so your work gains precision. Its 2 kg on a 26.7 × 26.7 cm footprint also give it a base that will not slide back when you press down.

To remove the step between table and grille entirely, pair it with one of the magnetic armrests for the tabletop Premium: the hand then rests at exactly the height of the suction zone.

Forty-eight watts, and why that is good news

It would be easy to assume a stronger unit consumes more. The Premium 2.0 does the opposite: it comes down to 48 W where its predecessor asked for 52, while producing a markedly faster airflow.

A gap like that is not obtained by fitting a bigger motor but by reworking the path air takes inside the housing. Incidentally, it also means an electricity bill that does not climb and a unit that runs cooler through a long day.

Noise: what to know before ordering

The Premium 2.0 runs at 69 dB. The first generation was measured at 55 dB. The gap is real and you will hear it.

There is a reason for it: moving air at 4.4 m/s mechanically creates more turbulence than at 3 m/s. That is the price of capture, and no manufacturer escapes it. What matters is what it means for you.

At 69 dB, conversation with your client remains possible without shouting, but you will carry your voice more than with the previous model. If your room is small, if you work long sessions, or if calm is part of what you sell, the first-generation Premium is still available among our ÜLKA nail dust collectors and remains the sounder choice. If your priority is to let nothing escape, the 2.0 was made for you.

Building a station around the Premium 2.0

A dust collector never works alone. Three items in the ÜLKA catalogue pair naturally with it:

Care: three minutes a day, no more

The working life of a nail dust collector is decided almost entirely by the filter. Here is the routine, in order:

  1. At the end of the day, remove the filter and dust it dry, with a soft brush or air blower. Three minutes are enough, and this is the step that matters most.
  2. No contact with water. HEPA media cannot take it: the fibres open and it permanently stops trapping fine particles.
  3. Grille and housing are cleaned with a soft cloth. Keep abrasive products away; they mark the finish for good.
  4. Replace the filter after around three months, or sooner if suction weakens or dusting no longer restores it.

Wear parts are gathered in our ÜLKA consumables. As the Premium 2.0 carries a newly drawn grille, write to us before ordering a replacement filter or grille: we will confirm the reference matched to your unit.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Premium 2.0 simply replace the first generation?

No, and that is deliberate. Both models stay in the catalogue because they answer different priorities. The 2.0 was built for capture: its airflow gains almost half again. The first generation keeps the advantage of quiet, at 55 dB against 69. Choose by what matters most in your room.

In practice, what do 4.4 m/s give that an ordinary airflow does not?

Margin. A fast airflow keeps drawing particles in even when the hand moves a few centimetres away from the grille — which happens constantly as soon as you turn a finger or change angle. A slow unit captures properly only in a narrow zone, and everything outside it lands on the table.

Do you need a strong collector when working with an e-file?

That is the use case that demands it most. A professional ÜLKA e-file throws material continuously and at speed, right at the nail. Without fast capture, that dust spreads across the whole working area before it can be drawn in.

Are watts a good basis for comparison?

They tell you about electrical consumption, not effectiveness. The Premium 2.0 proves it: it draws four watts less than the previous generation while producing a markedly faster airflow. What makes the difference is turbine design, grille geometry and the area offered to suction.

Does a 10.6 cm housing really change anything?

Over a ninety-minute appointment, yes. Every centimetre of height makes the client raise her wrist a little more. A supported wrist stays steady; a suspended one moves. And when the hand moves, your line loses its edge.

How much table space does it take?

26.7 × 26.7 cm, a square roughly the size of a folded A4 sheet. The square format, new to this generation, sits against a table edge better than the old rectangle.

Will it hold up through a full day of appointments?

That is what it is sized for. Its 48 W are intended for continuous salon operation, without heat build-up or the gradual drop in airflow that shows up late in the day.

What exactly is the filter for?

It holds the particles the airflow has captured. Without it, the unit would simply move dust from one part of the room to another. It is the wear part of the system, and the only one the lifespan of the whole really depends on.

What maintenance routine should I follow?

A daily dry dusting at the end of the day, and replacement roughly every three months. If you see eight clients a day, shorten that; if you work part time, it stretches naturally. Our ÜLKA consumables gather the spare parts.

Can the filter be washed with water?

Never. Water spreads the fibres of the filtering media irreversibly: the filter then lets through the finest particles, exactly the ones that matter. Soft brush or air blower, nothing else.

Is it suitable for removing gel polish and gel?

Yes, and those are the services where it earns its place most. Removal, infills, shaping extensions: any operation that produces filings falls within its remit.

Does it work outside Europe?

It accepts 220 V / 50 Hz and 110 V, which covers most domestic supplies.

What does the warranty cover and who handles it?

Five years, a span few manufacturers offer on equipment of this kind. Service is handled by ÜLKA France, with spare parts held in the catalogue: you have no claim to open abroad.
